Common Causes
A damaged source file, a network problem, or a temporary service issue can cause a translation to fail.
What to Do
- Open the file locally to confirm that it can be read normally and is not encrypted.
- Export the PDF again, or upload the original image file instead.
- Split a large file into smaller parts and try again.
- For PDFs that mix text and images, or for scanned PDFs, split the affected pages into images and use image translation instead.
- If the issue continues, keep the project name, file name, file type, page count, language pair, time of occurrence, and the error shown on the page, then contact technical support.
Tip: How can I tell whether a PDF is scanned?
Use a copy-and-paste test: copy a small amount of visible text, then paste it into a plain-text editor. You can use Notepad on Windows, or TextEdit on macOS in plain-text mode. If you cannot select the text, the pasted result is empty or garbled, or it clearly does not match the page, the file may have no text layer or its OCR quality may be low.
